alifya and I spent the long weekend at dubai with a few of our friends who live there. and gosh its monday and as i’m typing this post at work, it really does seem like the three days we spent in dubai passed by in a few seconds.

we are both fortunate to have friends who live in great places in dubai and for a little while we not only got to watch how they live their lives but live it too and that’s always my favorite part about traveling to a new country.

i liked dubai. it was a bit intimidating in the beginning {because i mean it when i say the buildings, oh man, they are just SO tall and overbearing}

BUT i got used to it after the first few hours. because everything in dubai is so SUPER sized. the malls, the buildings, the clubs.. you name it.

in the little time we spent there we did lots of things. which amounted to me not getting any sleep. at all. we saw the burj khalifa {the tallest building in the world..and it did help that chandni chintan live there!}, the palm jumeriah islands { SO breathtaking}   the dubai marine beach resort, boudoir {the night club at the marina that plays bollywood music on saturday nights, or so i’m told ;)}, barasti {my favorite. a beach side bar/ restaurant at le royal meridien mena seyahi} and ofcourse the dubai mall {the largest mall in the world} see what i told you about dubai and everything there being super sized??

on saturday evening our friends took us to the shooting club at jebel ali where you can shoot shotguns and other guns and aim at targets they place for you. i backed out of it at the last minute. because honestly that’s one talent i hope i never have to attain. and also because shooting a gun is just so freaky. even if its at a dart board.

conclusion: we had a blast {pun intended}

i have friends who go out of their way to make sure i have a good time. every single time. which is why i love them so much. also there is just this different kind of joy that comes from exploring a new country and learn how different people live their lives.

dubai i have a feeling i will see you again soon. very soon. three days just weren’t enough.
